Court Square at 6 PM on the second Thursday of June has a specific sound: folding chairs scraping brick, a soundcheck on the courthouse lawn, and the door of a Greenville Street restaurant opening every ninety seconds. If you already live in Newnan, you know the summer routine has shifted. It used to require a drive to Serenbe or Peachtree City to string a full weekend together. In 2026, the block between the Square and Bullsboro Drive holds enough on its own.
That is the argument of this post. Newnan's summer is not spread thinly across Coweta County. It has collapsed into a walkable, drivable-in-ten-minutes stretch, and this year is the first one where the food side of that stretch caught up to the events side.
The city and Main Street Newnan have quietly aligned the calendar. Summer NewnaNights happens on the second Thursday of each month from June to August, 6:00–9:00 PM on the Court Square. Summer Wined-Up runs Friday June 19 from 5:00 PM in Historic Downtown Newnan. Saturday belongs to the Coweta County Farmers Market at the Asa M. Powell, Sr. Expo Center on Temple Avenue, which has operated since 1977 as a gathering place where local farm families, gardeners and vendors offer in-season, locally grown produce.
Three anchor points. Thursday, Friday, Saturday. All within a five-minute drive of each other. That is the skeleton. The rest is where you eat between them.
The restaurant map around downtown changed more between January and June 2026 than in the previous two summers combined. If your mental list of "where to take out-of-town family" still ends at the same three restaurants it did in 2023, it is out of date.
Let's Talk Brunch, 226 Greenville Street, Suite H. The restaurant officially opened Friday January 16, 2026, offering a full brunch menu with bold Southern flavors and upscale comfort food. Entrées include lamb chops over smoked gouda grits, oxtail mac and cheese, shrimp and sausage grits, lobster mac, fried snapper, and a traditional Old School Breakfast; appetizers include deviled eggs loaded with shrimp or oxtail, crispy gator nuggets, and beignets. Two blocks from the Square. Walkable before or after NewnaNights.
Curious Kitchen & Bar, 80 Newnan Station Drive. A local favorite from Senoia, Curious Kitchen & Bar is relocating to a larger space in Newnan, known for creative dishes, handcrafted cocktails, and a vibrant atmosphere; the new location will include outdoor patio seating and an expanded menu. For the last five years, catching this kitchen meant a drive to Senoia and a wait. That trip is gone.
Capital Tacos, 1111 Bullsboro Drive. Capital Tacos brings handcrafted tacos, burritos, and bowls to Newnan with a made-from-scratch approach, taking over the former Moe's Southwest Grill building. Casual, fast, kid-friendly. The default lunch after the farmers market.
SUPER CHIX, Ashley Park, 440 Newnan Crossing Bypass West, Suite 104. A premium fast-casual chicken concept known for chicken sandwiches, tenders, hand-cut fries, and real ice cream. Ashley Park has been rearranging itself for two years; this one stuck.
Mellow Mushroom, 733 Bullsboro Drive, opening summer 2026. This one is worth understanding, not just noting. A nearly 3,000-square-foot location will open in Newnan this summer 2026 at 733 Bullsboro Drive, marking the brand's 45th location in Georgia and operating as a company-owned store. The restaurant will feature the company's new Fast-Fine prototype, a fully counter-service model designed to speed up ordering and streamline service; it will be only the second of its kind, following the first prototype location that opened in Atlanta's Grant Park neighborhood in 2024. A company-owned store, not a franchise, and only the second store in the country running the new format. Newnan pulled a test-market slot that most suburbs its size do not get.
The Second Thursday format works because it removes decision cost. You do not check whether it is on this week. It is on. Park once, walk the Square, eat where you land.

Line Creek Brewing – The Reserve hosts occasional events like paint nights in Newnan and works as a "after the crowd thins" stop when the Square starts breaking down at 9.
Summer Wined-Up on Friday June 19 starts at 5:00 PM in Historic Downtown Newnan. Different crowd from Thursday. Older, later, slower. Pair it with a sit-down dinner rather than a walk-and-eat.
Curious Kitchen & Bar was engineered for this exact night. Reservations open on the phone, and the patio at Newnan Station Drive is close enough to the Square to walk if parking downtown is tight, and easy enough to drive to if it isn't. If you want something less produced, Meat 'n Greet on the Square keeps showing up on the "restaurants open now" lists for a reason: it currently ranks among the top open-now restaurants in Newnan alongside Big Joe's Grille, Ito Ramen Bar, Knife And Stone, and Lilah Grey.
The Coweta County Farmers Market at the Powell Expo Center on Temple Avenue is the easiest morning in town. Peaches in June, tomatoes in July, corn any time you can find it. If you have kids, the city has folded in a summer-long side quest worth actually doing.
The Leisure Services Ducks on the Loose hunt takes the community across City of Newnan parks and facilities looking for the elusive ducks. Each event, clues are given as to the last known location of either a Lucky Duck, Dog Duck or Gnome Duck. Once the duck is returned to the Leisure Services offices you're rewarded with a prize. The Dog Ducks of Summer run through June and July, one duck per week.
Translation: the city is giving your kids a reason to visit a park they have never been to, once a week, for two months. It costs nothing. Print the clue, drive to Lynch Park or wherever it lands, walk the perimeter.
The Square is a machine at lunch on Saturday. If you have been there twice already this week, the pressure release is fifteen minutes west.
Chattahoochee Bend State Park runs a Junior Ranger Summer Program June 26–27, 2026, and the trails work even without the program. This is where the "already lives here" advantage kicks in. Out-of-town visitors default to Callaway Gardens. Residents know the Bend is closer, cheaper, and less crowded on a Saturday afternoon than any restaurant patio downtown.
The gaps are real. Downtown still closes early on Sundays. A late Sunday brunch means a drive to Peachtree City or south to Serenbe. The Bullsboro corridor keeps adding chains rather than independents, and the incoming Mellow Mushroom, while genuinely interesting as a prototype, is still a chain slot. The current opening list for Newnan also includes Alta Newnan, Crunch Fitness, Popeyes, PONKO, Raising Cane's, Sprouts, Taco Bell, and Wendy's, which tells you what the corridor is becoming and what it is not.
The independent scene is downtown. The chain scene is Bullsboro. Neither one is going to swap sides. If you plan a weekend that skips the Square, you have planned a weekend that could have happened in any Atlanta suburb.
